AR/VR Integrated Teaching Material

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog. I hope you're all doing well. Today's post is about another assignment from the same course. This time, the task was to create AR/VR-integrated teaching material.   Before starting with the assignment itself, let me explain what AR and VR are. Augmented reality (AR) is all about blending the real and virtual worlds. Instead of immersing you in a completely new environment, it enhances your physical surroundings by adding interactive digital elements like graphics, sounds, or other data. Pokémon GO and Instagram filters are examples of AR.   Virtual reality (VR) is about creating a completely virtual environment that replaces the physical world. It immerses you so deeply that your brain feels like you're ''there'' in the virtual world. You do not see the physical environment. Games and training simulations are examples of VR.   The point we focused on was how these technologies can be beneficial for language cla...

Creating an instructional video for the flipped instruction

Resim
Hi guys! I am back with another assignment. I hope you benefit from what you will read. This assignment is based on 'flipped classroom approach'. You may have never heard about it if you are from Turkey. The flipped classroom is a modern teaching method where the traditional learning structure is reversed. Instead of learning the topics in class and doing homework at home, students are introduced to the lesson content before class often through videos, readings, or online resources. Then, during class time, they focus on practicing, discussing, and applying what they've learned. It sounds different in a good way but it has its own advantages and disadvantages. One of the advantages is that it gives students more control over their learning. This is expecially helpful for students who need more time to understand the topic. Another advantage is that class time becomes more productive. Instead of passively listening, students find opportunity to ask questions. As for the disa...

Corpus-Based Material Design and Lesson Plan

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting something; actually, the introduction doesn’t count. I hope you enjoy and learn something after reading this post.   I will talk about my group homework and explain the process.   We prepared a lesson plan based on the ASSURE model and a corpus-based teaching material. You probably don't know about these terms. Let me explain to you.   The ASSURE model is a handy guide for planning lessons that really connect with students. It stands for  Analyze learners, State objectives, Select media and materials, utilize media and materials, require learner participation, and evaluate and revise.  In simple terms, it helps teachers design lessons that fit their students’ needs, keep them engaged, and make sure everything runs smoothly.  A corpus is a large collection of real-life texts, like books, conversations, and articles, that helps us study how language is actually used in everyday life. And COCA (Corpus of...
